Or if you'd like to get involved in any other way, give us a shout. There's lots of laughs to be had at rehearsals, and lots of jobs need doing. Or if you'd rather just come and watch, tickets will soon be going on sale on this site.

AGM kicks off another lively year at WDC

AGM on Wed went pretty well. WYTKidz came along to see Lucinda receive her award, swelling the ranks and making lots of positive contributions (as well as eating all the crisps and chocs). Lots of interest in doing a musical/ pantomime - so what we need now is a director and musical director. I'm sure they're out there somewhere. If anyone knows of someone who would like to take on lots of very keen, fine voiced thespians for January 2012, please put them in touch with WDC.
Blackadder kicked off too with first rehearsal going well on Monday, but the spotlight now is very much on Kindly Leave the Stage, an excellent comedy on stage in just over a month. Any helpers are very welcome. Tickets are now on sale here on the website - just click on Box Office and away you go.

Coffee and walking

Not an obvious combination - but what's coming up this weekend. Saturday 4th is coffee morning at Carillon Cottage from 10.30-12. I can't be there this month as I'm off to see the Big Cats at WHF with a friend for her birthday. But if I don't get fed to the lions I shall be walking on Sunday 5th with Oscar (the dog, of course). Led by John Bush, we are meeting at a layby on the Mark X to Frant road, and may pop into the pub for a drink and a bite after our 2 hour walk - nothing strenuous, but undoubtedly very pleasant. If you need to know more, ring me on 01892 783384.

Tuesday, 24 August 2010

What's coming?

With the Autumn comes rehearsals and preparations - and the drama AGM.
Kindly Leave the Stage is back into rehearsal from next week, Blackadder kicks off on 13 Sept, and the AGM is on Wed 15 Sept in the Commem - we hope to see you there. Despite the general views on AGMs, it's not too dry at all. In fact, we have drinks, nibbles and lots of chit chat - a good chance to catch up after the summer.
Oh, and it's Drama coffee morning on Sat 4th Sept in Carillon Cottage.

Blackadder Rehearsals

Blackadder rehearsals start on Monday 13th September at 7.30pm in the Methodist Hall, Wadhurst. All the cast are called for this first rehearsal.

Monday, 19 July 2010

Scarecrow

Hurrah for the scarecrow builders - who earned a 'Highly commended' for Queenie. I think it was really awarded for the fantastic effort in assembling three scarecrows for the weekend - namely Blackadder, Queenie and Baldrick. A supreme effort!
There were some brilliant scarecrows vying for attention - I particularly liked the Mad Hatter with his giant teapot, Nemo and the Bookshop's Russell. It made for an excellent weekend meeting up with lots of friends and drinking tea and eating cake while listening to the brass band outside the Commem.
And Saturday night left many of us speechless - the Clear Voices choir was breathtaking. Wonderful!!!

Thursday, 1 July 2010

Coffee anyone?

Don't forget coffee morning this Sat at Carillon cottage from 10.30-12noon. Although I can't be there (working at Páamo sale at Durgates) - I've just given the coffee bag to John Bush so I know someone will be there and there will be coffee and tea, and he will be lonely and fed up if no-one else turns up!!!!!

Wednesday, 30 June 2010

Scarecrows

Busy making scarecrows, having lots of fun, trying to find hair and heads and costumes
(sing to tune of busy doing nothing). You'll never guess who are scarecrows are! Spent Monday night bending chicken wire around frame and debating finer points of hair and doublets and tights. If you'd like to help, just give us a shout. Coffee morning this Saturday - I can't be there but will ensure that the coffee bag is delivered and I'm sure lots of others will be at Carillon.

Thursday, 24 June 2010

Another week....

Excellent turn out for auditions - managed to cast Blackadder, I believe. And good bbq on sunday too - weather could have been better, but could have been a lot worse!! We're now busy scarecrow making - or at least waiting for creative juices to flow (in a scarecrow direction). Any input welcome.

Friday, 18 June 2010

Cunningly...

it's Blackadder auditions tomorrow - so don't miss out all you budding Blackadders, Baldricks, Melchetts, Percys, Queenies, Nursies and the like. From 10am at the Methodist upstairs room. See you there!

Wednesday, 16 June 2010

Blackadder laughs

Good read thro' last night - a little bevy of potential new performers turned up and were really good, which made it more fun. Lots of laughs just reading thro' 'Head' & 'Potato'. Hope to see lots of potential Blackadders on Saturday at the auditions at the Methodist from 10am onwards .... and Percys ...and Queenies...and Melchetts...and, of course, Baldricks.
Come and have a giggle!

Monday, 14 June 2010

Blackadder is coming !!

Blackadder read-through is on Tuesday 15 June from 7.30pm at the Methodist Hall, Wadhurst. This is a chance to see what all the fuss is about and to find out about the Auditions on Saturday 19 June also at the Methodist Hall from 9.30am till 1.00pm.

Don't be shy ! Everyone is very welcome.

Sunday, 13 June 2010

Kindly Leave the Stage...

...well, please don't! Barbara, our Director, has fully cast this hilarious comedy and we welcome a few new actors to the Club!

Friday, 11 June 2010

SCARECROWS??!!

We're planning to meet up and talk scarecrows tomorrow morning at Catherine's house around 10.30am. Any help very welcome - we've got some ideas, but need to translate them into reality.
Leave a message if you need to know where to come.

Sunday, 6 June 2010

Walking dramatically

Excellent walk today starting and ending at the Globe & Rainbow in Kilndown. Beautiful morning, lovely scenery - with added interest from curious Shire horses and nosy black sheep.

Scarecrows!!!!

We're meeting next Saturday morning at around 10.30am at Catherine's house, Best Beech, to get inspiration for a scarecrow or two - we'd love any contributions. If you'd like to know where we are, give me a ring on 01892 783384.

Tuesday, 25 May 2010

Calling all MEN....

to kindly join us on the stage for 'Kindly Leave the Stage'. We are still looking for a man or men to join the cast for this very funny play within a play. So if you are interested in joining in the laughter and are free in October then give us a ring. You can call me in the first instance on 01892 783384.

Congrats to WYTKIDZ!

The Witches was brill - great fun and huge hard work and very impressive. It was great to have David Wood (the play's creator from the Roald Dahl original) in the audience on Saturday night, even better that he came up on the stage at the end and addressed the kids and the audience - and even better that Wendy has persuaded him to be Patron of Wytkidz. He loved the show and had fun with the kids so is looking forward to being involved. A stroke of genius Wendy, well done!

Monday, 17 May 2010

Auditions for Kindly Leave the Stage

Looking forward to a chat and a giggle at the Methodist Hall tomorrow evening, when it's auditions for the October production 'Kindly Leave the Stage'. They are open auditions so anyone and everyone is welcome to come along. Even if you don't want a part, if you would like to get involved then join us from 7.30pm at the Methodist Hall on Tuesday 18th May.

Thursday, 13 May 2010

The Witches enters its final week of prep.

Wednesday night - the Commemoration Hall was full of witches trying out their amazing finger nails and wigs, the sound technicians playing with sound effects of every variety, and the props lady racking her brains to think of a source of giant potion bottles, some knitting on 3 needles, a giant door key and a pile of burnt rags (that props lady is me!). The kids know their lines and are well on the way to becoming grandmother, witches, mice and waiters.
First performance is next Friday evening - tickets on sale at the Ironmongers in Wadhurst now. Be prepared to be scared - they are a nasty bunch those witches.

Kindly Leave the Stage

Good fun read thro' on Tuesday evening - seems like lots of potential for audience guffaws in this comedy based on a play within a play. A man hidden in a chest, a drunken Shakespearean actor, a visiting mother-in-law who isn't really and a helpful nurse from the audience make for a plot with lots of twists and turns. Turn out was OK - but a few more men for the auditions next week would certainly not go amiss. Hope to see you at the Methodist Hall next Tuesday 18th May at 7.30.

Monday, 3 May 2010

Tickets for THE WITCHES

are on sale now at the ironmongers in Wadhurst. The performance is now taking shape - the first rehearsal in the Commem went well yesterday, so now is the time to buy your tickets for Friday 21st May (eve) or Saturday 22nd May (afternoon or evening performances). Don't miss it!

Tomorrow is committee meeting night, so if you have anything you want me to raise just drop me an email or post a comment here.........

I'll report back on proceedings later in the week.

Tuesday, 27 April 2010

May Day Saturday coffee anyone?

Carillon Cottage this Saturday 1st May from 10.30 - 12 - join us for a coffee or tea (and biscuits of course!). Everyone is welcome to come along whether members or potential members. Come and find out about upcoming events and productions and have a good ole gossip!!

Thursday, 15 April 2010

Kindly Leave the Stage!!

No, not a request to me but the next production!

Taking place in October, with Barbara Liddle directing, we are having open auditions for this comedy with a twist by John Chapman. There'll be a read through, open to anyone and everyone, on Tuesday May 11th at the Methodist Hall, and auditions for the parts (5 female and 3 male, I think, from memory) the following Tuesday 18th May, also in the Methodist Hall. Again, everyone is welcome. Even if you're not sure if you want a part, the read thro' will be a fun evening and a chance to catch up with everyone over a tea or coffee.

If you'd like to be involved in some other way - rather than on the stage - backstage, front of house etc etc, you're equally welcome to come along. In fact, we'll be delighted to see you! Any queries, comment here and I'll answer you asap.

Thursday, 8 April 2010

21st & 22nd May - The Witches

Just been chatting to Wendy about the WYTKIDZ upcoming production of Roald Dahl's tale of magic, mayhem and mice - The Witches. Rehearsals are going well despite Wendy's broken wrist and mice costumes are being assembled as we speak. Tickets go on sale for the three performances from Tuesday 4th May at Wadhurst Ironmongers - Fri 21st May evening, Sat 22nd May afternoon matinee and evening. Tickets £8 for adults, £5 for children, £20 family ticket (2 adults + 2 children). Groups very welcome - but book early!

Wednesday, 31 March 2010
