What a great evening!

We had a lot of fun at last Friday's Christmas Party - good food, plenty of laughs with Merlin's silly games, an intellectual challenge (ahem) with Heather & Adam's quiz and generally a good catch up with everyone.
Tickets are now on sale for the Panto - both on the website here and in Carillon Cottage on Wadhurst High Street. Buy now to get the seats of your choice - we've had a few block bookings so the spaces are filling up. Adults £8, children £5, family ticket £25 (for 5). For group bookings of 10 or more (with one seat free for every 10) ring Juliet on 01580 241722. You'll love it - Oh yes, you will!

You'll also be particularly welcome if you turn up with a joke or two, a funny story, a song, a game or any form of entertainment!!

AGM = Annual get-together - next Wed

It may not sound thrilling but I'm looking forward very much to the AGM as a great opportunity to catch up with everyone over a glass of wine and some nibbles. We'll be celebrating the successes of the last 12 months, but, more importantly, looking forward to the plans for the next 12 months. Constructive advice and inspiration very welcome - and much appreciated! Hope to see you at the Commem at 7.45 on Wed 21 Sept.

August and beyond..

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is progressing nicely. Panto is also pretty much cast so all goes well with Wadhurst Drama. Not much happening now in August, but in September things will hot up - with Panto rehearsals setting sail (well, it is Pirates!), coffee morning (on 3rd Sept), committee meeting, ticket sales starting for Miss Brodie and AGM mid month. More of all this anon......

Pirates are setting sail!

Don't forget auditions tomorrow night at the Methodist Hall at 7pm - or as soon as you can get there. Bring an eye patch!!!!!!!!
And coffee morning on Saturday to catch up on all the latest - Carillon Cottage 10.30-12 noon.

Thursday, 23 June 2011

Sharpen your cutlasses!

And polish your wooden legs....auditions for Pirates: the Panto are happening next Thursday 30th June. It's all aboard at the Methodist Hall from 7pm.
This new pantomime features the wicked pirate Bluebeard who likes getting married but not staying married. He has his eye on Cinderella and if she doesn't watch out she'll end up walking the plank. Never fear, the Big Bad Wolf is on his way to rescue her.
This is a large cast panto with many parts for men (and women) pirates, members of the Union of Sailing Ship Rats, skeletons, rescuers and many more. Please try and come along to the auditions - we need you! (and you don't have to bring your own parrot!!)

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Rehearsals have now officially started (this Monday) - if you'd like to help out in anyway just give us a shout on this page - we'd love any budding backstage workers or creatives/ designers - or even just willing helpers.
Look out for Panto auditions on 30th June at the Methodist Hall - that will be a fun evening. And they are open auditions so anyone, member or non member, is welcome.
Date for your diary: BBQ on 24th July from 12 noon at a lovely roomy field near Pashley. It's a bring-your-own cutlery, crockery and bottle occasion. Let us know if you are coming so we can plan the food.

Auditions and such like...

Very much enjoyed the read thro' and auditions for The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Plenty of good reading - but seems like the soft Scottish lilt might need some work, whoever gets the parts (except for Barbara of course, who was a natural!).

Committee meeting on Thursday - hope someone takes some nice biscuits! We've got lots of stuff to discuss - from insurance and PAT testing (!!) to (more excitingly) social events like the next coffee morning (Jun 4), a walk in Tidebrook (Jun 5), fun play reading (Jun 8) barbeque, TPOMJB rehearsals, and crucially, the auditions for the New Year panto, Pirates. So dig out your cutlasses and pay attention to the website for more details.

She is in her prime....

Hone that lovely Edinburgh lilt - the auditions for the wonderfully entertaining 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' are now only just over a week away! There's a read through on Thursday 5th May (evening) followed by open auditions on Saturday 7th May (morning) - both upstairs in the Methodist Hall.
Come along and enjoy the fun even if you're not convinced you want a part - there are lots of other jobs that will need your input, or you can just come along for the sheer entertainment value. Any queries or if you want to be considered but can't make either date, give director Juliet Mander a ring on 01580 201883. And prepare to meet 'la creme de la creme' (as Miss Brodie would say!).
